This is one of the specific reasons why you want to connect with European Esox Fishermen Overseas, basically to see what type of unique rare lures they're using that we aren't using here in this States, I've talked about how blades swimbaits like the Suissex Shad Spin Blade are rare for both bass and pike/musky, well how about rare baits based on size? Believe it or not one family owned pike company from Ireland is host to the biggest swimbait ever created, its the Mel Handmade Lures Mamma Shad coming in at 16.5" long and weighing 23 ounces, about similar weight to the Ultra Dawg. After that it would have to be 16" Musky Innovations Swimmin Dawg, then the 14" Warhammer, then the 12" Chaos Posseidon.
So why go big? Well as many say within musky community, bigger baits usually means bigger musky!
16.5" Mamma Shad - The Biggest Swimbait ever created
16" Musky Innovations Monster Magnum Swimmin' Dawg
14" Warhammer by Toddy Tickle Baits
12" Chaos Posseidon
This also too is a huge swimbait show in a video from some European Carp Store, but I have yet to track the name and source down, it's very similar the Mamma Shad, but is it bigger? If you find something bigger be sure to share it...
Maybe the Russians or Vladimir Putin got a bigger swimbait hiding up their sleeve?
After catching a 53 1/4 spotted musky couple years back along with a 47" tiger musky on the 12" Chaos Posseidon in White, all within same day, also losing another massive musky that day... Also last year losing a really big 50" musky yet again, I've become a huge fan of swimbaits, they produce really big Musky / Esox / Pike!
